Nicole Ponseca Biography
Nicole Ponseca is a pioneering entrepreneur, author, and cultural strategist whose work has helped shape the modern Filipino food movement in America. Through her acclaimed New York City restaurants, Maharlika and Jeepney, she introduced a bold, contemporary vision of Filipino cuisine that influenced a new generation of chefs and restaurateurs.
Her James Beard Award nominated cookbook, "I Am a Filipino," was recognized by The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, and Boston Globe as one of the year’s best cookbooks. The New York Times described her as ‘an empire in the making.’
Today, Ponseca is the founder of the International Manila Food Festival (IMFF), a global culinary and cultural platform designed to position Manila as an emerging gastronomic capital alongside the Philippines’ growing international recognition, including Michelin’s recent expansion into the country. She is also leading the pre-seed development of a next-generation Filipino hospitality and media platform focused on food, storytelling, live experiences, and cultural influence on a global scale.
