Libby Gill Biography
Libby Gill is an executive coach, leadership expert, and award-winning author with a career spanning more than three decades in leadership development, executive coaching, and organizational change. Gill brings extensive experience leading, managing, and motivating teams, having served as a C-suite executive at Sony, Universal, and Turner Broadcasting. She began her career as a public relations assistant at Embassy Communications, a television company founded by Norman Lear, and advanced to become head of publicity, advertising, and promotion for Sony's worldwide television group after navigating multiple mergers. Gill later led public relations at Turner Broadcasting and became senior vice president of corporate communication at Universal before founding her own executive coaching and leadership consulting firm.
Gill's corporate tenure included overseeing major television launches and serving as the branding strategist behind the launch of the "Dr. Phil Show." Her expertise in media and communications has been featured on CBS Early Show, CNN, Inside Edition, NPR, Today Show, and in BusinessWeek, Good Housekeeping, O Magazine, The New York Times, Time, and Wall Street Journal. Gill leverages her background in entertainment industry leadership to advise business leaders on communication, branding, and organizational transformation.
After nearly 15 years in corporate leadership, Gill became an entrepreneur, founding Libby Gill & Company, an executive coaching and leadership consulting firm. She has worked with clients such as ADP, Disney, EY, Intel, Honda, Kellogg's, Lilly, Medtronic, Navy Federal Credit Union, Novo Nordisk, Warner Bros., Vanguard, and Zurich. Gill continues to keynote, consult, and lead workshops globally, focusing on change management, employee engagement, and future-focused leadership.
Gill is the author of seven books, including "You Unstuck," "Capture the Mindshare," "Traveling Hopefully," "Leadership Reckoning" (co-author), and "The Hope-Driven Leader." "You Unstuck: Mastering the New Rules of Risk-taking in Work and Life" received an Independent Publishers Award. Her writing has appeared in book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, and as a columnist for Dallas Morning News. Gill also authored the novel "Malibu Summer."
Central to Gill's work is a science-based framework on hope, known as Hope Theory, which she applies to workplace leadership. She shares strategies to help leaders overcome obstacles, define a positive vision, and mobilize teams using her True Hope Process.
