Rashida Jones Biography
Rashida Jones is the former President of MSNBC, where she oversaw all programming, editorial units, business development, and digital expansion—becoming the first Black executive to lead a major cable news network. Before her presidency, she served as Senior Vice President at NBC News and MSNBC, spearheading cross-platform coverage of major events including the coronavirus pandemic and the 2020 election. She also produced the most-watched Democratic presidential debate in history.
Jones is a two-time Emmy and three-time Edward R. Murrow Award winner, and recipient of the RTDNA First Amendment Award. She has been recognized by the National Action Network, National Urban League, ColorComm, and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications for her leadership and impact. A member of the Executive Leadership Council and the Academy of Arts and Sciences, Jones was inducted into Hampton University’s Scripps Howard Journalism Hall of Fame and received Montclair State University’s inaugural Media Leadership Award for her national influence across platforms and genres.
