Pete Blaber Biography
Pete Blaber is a retired Delta Force commander whose two-decade military career placed him at the center of significant and high-risk special operations in modern American history. He commanded at every level of one of the world’s leading counter-terrorist organizations during major military and political events, including operations in Panama, Colombia, Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Among his achievements, Blaber executed missions that included dismantling the largest concentration of Al Qaeda forces to date and contributing to the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq. He holds an MBA and an MS in national security and strategic affairs.
Blaber’s operational legacy is illustrated by his role in Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan, one of the largest conventional and special operations battles of the post-9/11 era. As a lieutenant colonel, Blaber received critical intelligence regarding the insertion of SEAL fire teams into the Shah-i-Kot Valley, placing him at the center of decision-making during the Battle of Takur Ghar. His military leadership philosophy emphasizes common sense, contextual awareness, and empowering ground-level operators over rigid procedures—principles shaped by operations across Panama, Colombia, Somalia, Bosnia, and Afghanistan that highlighted the importance of local intelligence and adaptive tactics. He has used the Battle of Takur Ghar as a case study on how disconnected decision-making by distant commanders can result in preventable casualties.
After retiring from the military, Blaber transitioned from leading combat teams to leading corporate teams at a major biotechnology company. He later founded and led his own company. This transition from battlefield to boardroom provided Blaber with a unique perspective on leadership across diverse environments and became the foundation for his work as an author and public speaker.
