Matty Matheson Biography
Matthew James Matheson is a Canadian chef, restaurateur, actor, and internet personality. He was the executive chef at Parts & Labour, a restaurant located in Toronto, Ontario, and has since opened several dining establishments including Matty's Patty's Burger Club, a takeout restaurant, Fonda Balam, serving Mexican cuisine, Ca Phe Rang, a Vietnamese restaurant offering pho and bánh mì, Prime Seafood Palace, and Rizzo's House of Parm, featuring old-school Italian-American cuisine, all located in Toronto. Additionally, he founded Rosa Rugosa, a Canadian-made workwear clothing line.
Matheson's dynamic and vibrant personality has led him to become a familiar face in various media. He maintains his own YouTube channel and hosts the cooking show "Just a Dash," which was picked up by Netflix for its third season. His previous hosting duties include Viceland’s "It’s Suppertime!" and "Dead Set on Life". He has also appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Kelly Clarkson Show," and other platforms such as GQ, Rachel Ray, Forbes, Bon Appetit, and Playboy. In addition to his television appearances, Matheson is the author of the New York Times bestselling books "Matty Matheson: A Cookbook" and "Home Style Cookery." In June 2022, Matheson joined the cast and crew of FX's series "The Bear," where he portrays Neil Fak, a handyman, and contributes as a co-producer and culinary consultant.
Matheson has overcome personal challenges, including past substance abuse, which led to a heart attack at age 29. Following this incident, he became sober in late 2013. He is married to Tricia Spencer and they have three children: MacArthur, Rizzo, and Ozzy. The family resides in Fort Erie, Ontario. Matheson continues to expand his brand through new culinary ventures, media appearances, and product partnerships, including collaborations with brands like RVCA and Castor Design, and food company McCain Canada.
