Robin Wilson Biography
Robin Wilson is an American entrepreneur, interior designer, author, and thought leader whose career centers on wellness, sustainability, and luxury design. Wilson is the founder and CEO of CLEAN DESIGN HOME, a brand focused on healthy living and high-end design, advocating for spaces that support both physical and emotional well-being. After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's in real estate finance from New York University, Wilson transitioned from the corporate sector to pursue a career in design. She became the first Black woman founder of a global allergen-aware lifestyle brand.
Wilson's personal experience with severe allergies and asthma shaped her mission. Her family's search for affordable hypoallergenic bedding inspired her to create Clean Design Home, a line of accessible pillows, bedding, towels, and home textiles designed to resist allergens. Wilson's design portfolio includes projects for President Clinton's Harlem office, the White House Fellows office, and private residences. Her lifestyle brand relaunched as CLEAN DESIGN HOME at Macy's and expanded to BELK, Bed Bath, HSN, Meijer, Amazon, Wayfair, and military outlets, generating over $100 million in branded wholesale revenue from textiles, furniture, and cabinetry.
As an author, Wilson has published "Clean Design" and "Kennedy Green House." Her book "CLEAN DESIGN: Wellness for your Lifestyle" has received multiple book awards and reached the top of Amazon and Kindle rankings. Her third book, "Combing Cotton: Transform Your Ancestry into Your Competitive Advantage," combines business insights and memoir, drawing on her family's history and her journey from childhood allergies to leading Clean Design Home.
Wilson's work in sustainable design and wellness has been featured on HGTV, HSN, CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, FOX, and CNN, as well as in House Beautiful, O Magazine, INC Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Esquire, ESSENCE, and Black Enterprise. She has appeared on the Ellen Show for the "12 Days of Christmas" giveaway and has received recognition such as being named one of the Top 20 African-American Designers, an Eco-Hero for Sustainable Design, and one of the New York Post's 50 Most Powerful Women. Wilson has also been honored as Black Enterprise's Entrepreneur of the Year and received the NY MOVES Women of Power award.
In addition to her commercial achievements, Wilson is an advocate for wellness and entrepreneurship. She has served as an ambassador for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and as vice chair of the board of directors of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. Wilson was honored with the NYU SPS Distinguished Alumni Award and delivered the commencement address at Radio City Music Hall for the NYU SPS Graduate Convocation. As a speaker and media expert on allergy, design, wellness, and sustainability, Wilson brings a combination of lived experience, business expertise, and creative perspective to her work.
