Jessica Louie Biography
During Dr. Jessica Louie's (PharmD, APh, BCCCP) nine-year training journey to become a licensed critical care and advanced practice pharmacist, she experienced high levels of stress that led to healthcare burnout during her residency and first job in academia. She coped with this stress by shopping and accumulating a bulging wardrobe and cluttered home. She had scattered goals and felt like she just kept running towards a finish line that never got any closer. After a family member passed away suddenly, she realized she was not living intentionally; life showed how short it could be and she needed to make a change.
Louie found Marie Kondo’s life-changing books and the KonMari Method saved her from pharmacist burnout. She applied the KonMari Method to her own home and then took the philosophy and applied it to the rest of her life – being intentional with her finances to go debt-free, focusing on her health and well-being, and surrounding herself with people who sparked joy. Her family and friends noticed the change and asked for help. Louie started helping them apply the KonMari Method to their own homes – clearing the clutter from their homes and minds and resetting burnout. In 2018, this grew into a business as she become a Certified KonMari Consultant and launched her Declutter and Burnout Coaching business, The Burnout Doctor.
Dr. Louie received her bachelor and doctorate degree from the University of Southern California (USC). She then pursued her post-graduate training at the University of Utah Hospital, completing a PGY1 in pharmacy practice and PGY2 in critical care. Louie now holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from the University of Southern California, is a board-certified critical care pharmacist (BCCCP), advanced practice pharmacist (APh) in California and currently teaches as an Assistant Professor at West Coast University School of Pharmacy.
