Jay Rosen is a prominent figure in American journalism studies, recognized for his extensive work in journalism innovation, media criticism, and civic journalism. Rosen completed a 39-year tenure at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University, where he specialized in journalism innovation and served as chair of the Department of Journalism. His academic foundation was influenced by media theorist Neil Postman, who chaired Rosen's dissertation committee and contributed to his enduring interest in how media environments shape public life.
Rosen is widely known for his role as a press critic and as the author of "PressThink," a blog focused on the challenges and transformations facing journalism in the digital era.
