Jamie-Lynn Sigler Biography
Jamie-Lynn Sigler is an actress and singer whose career encompasses theater, television, film, and advocacy. Sigler began acting and singing at age seven in New York regional theater, performing in more than two dozen theatrical productions, including "Annie," "The Wizard of Oz," "The Sound of Music," "The Wiz," and "Gypsy." She starred in a touring production of "Cinderella" opposite Eartha Kitt and made her Broadway debut as Belle in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."
Sigler is best known for her role as Meadow Soprano on the HBO series "The Sopranos." Her performance earned her Hollywood Reporter Young Star Awards for Best Young Actress in a Dramatic Television Series and ALMA nominations. Sigler also appeared in 13 episodes of "Entourage" and made guest appearances on "How I Met Your Mother," "Ugly Betty," and "Will & Grace." She starred as Tonya in the ABC series "Big Sky."
While building her career in the entertainment industry, Sigler managed a diagnosis of relapsing multiple sclerosis, a chronic neurological disease. She was diagnosed at age 20 while filming "The Sopranos" and kept her diagnosis private for 16 years. After sharing her story publicly, Sigler became an advocate for the MS community. She launched the podcast "MeSsy" with Christina Applegate and co-hosted "Not Today, Pal" and "Pajama Pants" with Robert Iler.
Sigler has addressed chronic illness and personal challenges through her work, including an appearance on "Grey's Anatomy" as a doctor living with MS. Her memoir, "And So It Is," offers insight into her experiences on "The Sopranos," her MS diagnosis, and her advocacy journey. She also co-authored the memoir "Wise Girl: What I've Learned About Life, Love, and Loss." Sigler's openness about chronic illness, eating disorders, and the pressures of early fame has contributed to conversations about health and wellness in the entertainment industry and beyond.
