Danny Trejo Biography
Danny Trejo, an actor known for his numerous appearances in film and television since his debut in 1985 with "Runaway Train", has established himself both in front of and behind the camera. He gained worldwide recognition through his role as Isador "Machete" Cortez in the "Spy Kids" series and the films "Machete" and "Machete Kills". His work extends beyond acting, with voice roles in video games such as "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" and "Far Cry 6: Danny and Dani vs. Everybody". Trejo's films have collectively grossed over $3.7 billion worldwide, contributing to his broad influence in the industry.
Behind the spotlight, Trejo has been a substance abuse counselor since 1973, and worked with Western Pacific Med Corp in the 1980s, helping to establish and operate sober living houses. His life experiences, including his journey from convict to film star, were featured in the biographical film "Champion" and his memoir "Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood". The memoir, co-authored with Donal Logue, debuted at number four on The New York Times nonfiction best-seller list in 2021. His ventures also extend into the culinary world, with Trejo owning eight restaurants including "Trejo's Tacos" and "Trejo's Cantina". In 2020, he published a cookbook titled "Trejo's Tacos: Recipes and Stories from L.A.", sharing his culinary ventures.
Over the years, Trejo has diversified his portfolio by taking on various roles and projects. He produced his first film "Ambition" in 2014 and voiced characters in video games and animated series. He also made guest appearances on popular shows such as "RuPaul's Drag Race", "The Masked Singer", and "The Book of Boba Fett". Throughout his career, Trejo has been recognized for his unique acting style, often being typecast as a prisoner, and for his involvement in various forms of media.
