Geena Davis is an Academy Award-winning actress, producer, and author recognized for her advocacy of gender equality in the entertainment industry. Davis began her career with roles in television and film before gaining widespread attention in the fantasy comedy "Beetlejuice." She earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "The Accidental Tourist" and received a nomination for Best Actress for her role in "Thelma & Louise." Her work in "Thelma & Louise" and "A League of Their Own" contributed to the evolution of female characters in Hollywood, portraying women as strong, complex, and independent.

Davis has established a multifaceted career as an actor, producer, and advocate for gender equity in media. She transitioned to television with "Commander in Chief," where she portrayed the first female U.S. president, earning a Golden Globe Award for her performance. In addition to her work on screen, Davis pursued archery and became a semi-finalist for the Olympic trials.

Davis founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, an organization dedicated to researching and addressing gender imbalance and stereotypes in entertainment media. Davis has served as the UN Special Envoy for Women and Girls in Information and Communications Technology. Her honors include an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Beyond acting, Davis has produced various films and television shows, including the children's series "Mission Unstoppable with Miranda Cosgrove." She is the author of the memoir "Dying of Politeness," which explores her experiences and the role of Hollywood in advancing women's rights.
