On a mission to share her Midwest, Amy, a born-and-raised Minnesotan, is a former restaurant chef who returned to America's heartland after a stint in the Big Apple.
Her all-new series, Heartland Table, shines a light on the comfort food favorites she's known for creating in her rural log cabin.
Amy Thielen, the hostess of Heartland Table on Food Network, grew up a few miles from the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota and graduated from Macalester College.
She spent 7 years cooking professionally in New York under David Bouley, Daniel Boulud, Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Shea Gallante.
Since returning to Minnesota in 2008, she has written for Minneapolis’ Star Tribune, Men’s Journal and Saveur, and won a James Beard journalism award in 2011.
Her cookbook, The New Midwestern Table, a collection of 200 Midwestern recipes, is slated to be published by Clarkson Potter in September 2013.
Amy lives out in the country near Park Rapids, Minn., with her husband and their son

If you’ve watched the Food Network lately, you might have seen Amy Thielen’s new series, “Heartland Table.” Or perhaps you’ve seen her gorgeous new cookbook, “The New Midwestern Table.”
Chef, writer, and television host Amy Thielen will visit the Pierz Public Library on Wednesday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m. Thielen is writer of "The New Midwestern Table" and the host of "Heartland Table" on the Food Nework. She will sign her cookbooks and answer questions about her book and show.
In the first episode of Amy Thielen’s new Food Network show, “Heartland Table,” the Park Rapids, Minn., native melts a golden disk of local butter into a skillet and confidently tells the viewer, “It really is the fat of our land.”
"Butter is kind of like the currency of the Midwest," Amy Thielen muses as she unwraps and slices up a roll of that sunshine yellow money, fresh from a creamery in Westby, Wisconsin.
At the heart of that trend is chef Amy Thielen, author of the cookbook "The New Midwestern Table" and host of the new Food Network show "Heartland Table," which she films in her Park Rapids, Minn., kitchen.

I have worked with many agencies to book guest speakers over the past 5 years. My experience with AAE has been the best. The website, search facilitation software, and speaker briefs were great. The follow-up and support from the sales agent and logistics manager were excellent. We will no doubt be in touch next year.
- K. Sanders, Coca Cola HBC
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your agency's incredible support in arranging for this event. I can say that our enthusiasm - which was already high - has now gone through the roof. The team at AAE has been essential in the process and are now heroes in our office.
