Seth Farbman Biography
Seth Farbman is a marketing executive with a career spanning journalism, agency leadership, and senior roles at global brands. Farbman began his career as a journalist after earning an M.S. in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications, later transitioning to marketing. He founded OgilvyEarth, a sustainability-focused marketing consultancy within the WPP/Ogilvy agency network, and led marketing teams at major U.S. wireless carriers, now known as Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless.
Before joining Spotify, Farbman served as chief marketing officer at Gap Inc., where he led brand repositioning efforts, engaged younger audiences, and expanded the company into international markets including Japan, China, the UK, and the EU. His work contributed to a significant increase in the company's share price. Farbman then became the first chief marketing officer of Spotify.
During his tenure at Spotify, the company expanded its customer base to nearly 200 million across 65 countries, establishing itself as a leading music streaming service and a prominent global technology brand. Farbman managed Spotify's business-to-consumer and business-to-business marketing teams, as well as public relations, customer support, brand, creative and design, marketing sciences, and analytics. He played a key role in scaling the company and supporting its public offering. The internal marketing and communications team he built was named Advertising Age's Agency of the Year, and Spotify received 11 Lions at the Cannes Lions International Festival for Creativity and was named Brand of the Year.
