Paul George Biography
Paul George, known by the nickname PG-13, is recognized as a versatile player in professional basketball. The 6-foot-8 forward is noted for his scoring ability, perimeter shooting, and defensive skills. George is a nine-time NBA All-Star, six-time All-NBA Team selection, and four-time NBA All-Defensive Team member. He played college basketball at California State University, Fresno, where he averaged 15.5 points per game over two seasons before entering the NBA. George was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 10th overall pick in the NBA draft.
George's career in Indiana included earning the NBA Most Improved Player Award and leading the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals. He has averaged 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game over his career, establishing himself as a two-way player in the league. George led the NBA in steals during a season in which he averaged a career-high 28 points per game and finished third in both Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year voting.
George's career has also included overcoming significant injuries. After suffering a broken leg while competing for a spot on the United States national team for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, he returned to become an NBA All-Star and won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA. George later played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers.
George has faced challenges, including an injury-prone period and a suspension for violating the NBA/NBPA joint anti-drug program. Despite these setbacks, he returned to average 21 points per game and contributed to a playoff run in Philadelphia. George was later traded to the Boston Celtics in a high-profile deal. He has addressed his fitness and readiness for the next phase of his career, emphasizing his recovery from injuries and focus on contributing to Boston's pursuit of an NBA championship.
