Maria Bartiromo Biography
Maria Bartiromo is a prominent figure in American financial journalism, with a career spanning more than three decades. Bartiromo joined CNBC after five years as a producer, writer, and assignment editor with CNN Business News, where she contributed to several of CNN's business programs. She became the first television journalist to deliver live reports from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, marking a significant development in financial broadcasting. During her tenure at CNBC, Bartiromo launched the network's morning program, "Squawk Box"; anchored "The Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo"; and served as anchor and managing editor of the nationally syndicated "On the Money with Maria Bartiromo," formerly "The Wall Street Journal Report with Maria Bartiromo."
Bartiromo has received multiple awards, including two Emmy Awards and a Gracie Award. Her first Emmy recognized her News and Documentary coverage of the financial collapse, with her "Bailout Talks Collapse" segment broadcast on NBC Nightly News. She later earned a second Emmy for the documentary "Inside the Mind of Google," which aired globally on CNBC, and a Gracie Award for "Greenspan: Power, Money & the American Dream," also broadcast on CNBC. The Financial Times named Bartiromo one of the "50 Faces That Shaped the Decade," and she was the first female journalist inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame. She has also been inducted into the Library of American Broadcasting.
After her time at CNBC, Bartiromo joined Fox Corporation as Global Markets Editor. She hosted "Mornings with Maria" and "Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street" on Fox Business, and anchored "Sunday Morning Futures" on Fox News Channel. Bartiromo has provided analysis on economic issues, conducted interviews with leaders in business and politics, and led coverage of the political economy. She has also moderated Republican presidential debates. Bartiromo received the Horatio Alger Award, which recognizes individuals who have achieved professional success while overcoming significant obstacles.
In addition to her broadcast work, Bartiromo is an author of several books, including "Use the News," "The 10 Laws of Enduring Success," "The Weekend That Changed Wall Street," and "The Cost." Her influence extends into popular culture, with a song by Joey Ramone titled "Maria Bartiromo" and a cameo in the film "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
