Jamie Lee Curtis is an actress, producer, and children's author whose career spans more than four decades across film, television, and publishing. Curtis is recognized for her performances in the horror and slasher genres as well as in comedies, and is often referred to as a scream queen. She made her film debut as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's horror film "Halloween," a role that established her prominence in the genre. Her work outside of horror includes roles in comedies such as "Trading Places," "True Lies," and "Everything Everywhere All at Once," earning her BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Academy Award honors. Her films have grossed billions at the box office.
Curtis has demonstrated versatility across genres and generations. She starred opposite Lindsay Lohan in the Disney film "Freaky Friday," about a mother and daughter who switch bodies, which achieved commercial success. Curtis reprised the role of Laurie Strode in several "Halloween" sequels, including "Halloween," "Halloween Kills," and "Halloween Ends." She also appeared in the ensemble cast of the murder-mystery film "Knives Out," which achieved significant box office success. Additional film credits include "The Last Showgirl" and "Freakier Friday."
Her portrayal of Deirdre Beaubeirdre in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" earned Curtis an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She guest starred in the Hulu comedy-drama series "The Bear" as Donna Berzatto, earning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Curtis's accolades include an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Actor Awards. She has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Golden Lion Honorary Award at the Venice International Film Festival, and the AARP Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award. Curtis has also been recognized as a Disney Legend.

Curtis has served as honorary chairperson for the Building Resilience for Young Children Dealing with Trauma program and has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for her advocacy on behalf of children.
Curtis is also known for her openness about personal struggles, including her recovery from opioid and alcohol addiction. She is an advocate for sobriety and the recovery process, sharing her story to reduce stigma and encourage others to seek help. Curtis has served on the Board of Directors of CASA (The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University) and The Scott Hitt Foundation, as well as on the advisory boards of the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation and The Starlight/Starbright Foundation.
