Gregory D. Evans Biography
Gregory D. Evans is a cybersecurity consultant and former hacker who has built a career protecting individuals, corporations, and government agencies from digital threats. Evans has spoken about his early self-taught experiences hacking into computers and his transition from illicit activity to legitimate cybersecurity work. This shift led to a career focused on entrepreneurship, education, and public advocacy for digital safety.
As a Certified Ethical Hacker, Evans serves as president and CEO of LIGATT Security International, a cybersecurity company. He has managed teams that include former FBI agents, hackers, law enforcement officers, and private investigators, and has led projects involving penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, and security programming for medium to large companies. Evans invented eSnitch, a wireless tracking device for computers that enables the tracking of stolen computers worldwide. Drawing from his real-world experiences, he has consulted for high-profile clients, including athletes and entertainers, on issues such as cyber blackmail and extortion.
Evans is the author of eight books on high-tech security, including "Laptop Security Short & Simple," "The Spyware Reference & Study Guide," "Memoirs of a Hi-Tech Hustler," "Hi-Tech Identity Theft Short and Simple," "125 Ways to Protect Your Computer Short and Simple," "How to Become the World's No. 1 Hacker," and "The Layman's Guide to Fighting Hi-Tech Crime." He was named one of Black Enterprise magazine's Top 20 Masters of Innovation and featured in the book "Who's Who in Black Atlanta." Evans holds a Certified Master Anti-Terrorism Specialist certificate from the Anti Terrorism Accreditation Board.
Evans appears regularly as an authority on high-tech crime prevention on television and in print. On The History Channel series "Modern Marvels," he demonstrated the capabilities of computer surveillance and the risks posed by cyber-terrorists. He also served as a consultant on NBC's Dateline series, "To Catch a Predator." Evans has appeared on CNN, Fox News, ABC News, History Channel, CBS News, NBC News, CNBC, Anderson Cooper Daytime TV Show, Entertainment Tonight, and Hallmark Channel. His work has been featured in newspapers and magazines including Wall Street Journal, LA Times, USA Today, Black Enterprise, and JET magazine.
Evans has trained FBI, DEA, ATF, and other federal law enforcement at the annual Women in Federal Law Enforcement conference. He is certified to teach Continuing Legal Education to attorneys in California, Nevada, and Georgia. Evans has lectured to more than 50,000 students from middle school to college level, focusing on making cybersecurity education accessible and engaging.
