Daniel Mishin Biography
Dan Mishin's first interest in entrepreneurship began with a missed train and an unplanned stay in a youth hostel in Berlin at the age of 11. This experience has inspired him to start his first business at an early age, turning his grandmother’s empty apartment in Ukraine into the first backpacker hostel in Crimea. By the time he was 20, Mishin had developed this scrappy summer project into a successful brand known as Bear Hostels, which became the leading youth hostel company in the CIS region, operating thousands of hostel beds across 10 different cities in Eastern Europe.
In 2012 Bear Hostels was majority-acquired by the largest restaurant holding in Russia "Planet of Hospitality". That same year, the holding company announced a $100M investment program in the Joint Venture and has appointed Daniel Mishin as the CEO of the new venture called "Planet of Hostels". Under his leadership, the company expanded into new markets and launched new brands, including "Privet Hostel"—the largest hostel in Eastern Europe with conference facilities, gyms, communal bars, and 300+ beds.
Mishin exited "Planet of Hostels" in 2015 to move to America.
After moving to the US, Mishin started June Homes - a technology-enabled residential housing company based in New York.
Since opening their first property in Harlem in 2017, June Homes has scaled their operations to 2,500 units across 11 US cities and reached over $50M in revenue.
June Homes has raised over $65M of venture capital from some of the world's best investors including Softbank Ventures Asia, Demi Lovato, Quiet Capital, FJ labs, Altair Capital, TQ ventures and Scott Belsky.
In August 2023, Mishin was succeeded as a CEO by a long-time June Homes executive Mr. Mauricio Zuniga who became the CEO of the company.
In November 2025, June Homes has completed its merger with Outpost Club forming the largest flexible living operator in the U.S. The combined entity manages over 4,500 units with a combined revenue forecast to exceed $100,000,000 in 2026.
In 2024, Mishin started a new business in the legal technology space. Mishin's vision is to increase access to justice for millions of Americans by utilizing the power of AI. Currently in "Stealth Mode".
Mishin is based in New York and is an avid hiker, trail runner, gym enthusiast and an aspiring pilot (PPL WIP)
He loves traveling and has visited over 70 countries. He traveled via Trans-Siberian railroad from Saint Petersburg to Beijing and hiked numerous multi-day trails across South America.
His dream is complete the Appalachian trail from Maine to Georgia (2,200 miles), the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada (2,650 miles) and to visit every US National Park 🇺🇸.
