Craig Robinson Biography
Craig Malcolm Robinson, the current executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has a rich history both on and off the basketball court. As a former star forward at Princeton University, Robinson earned the title of Ivy League Player of the Year twice during his college basketball career. His coaching career began at Brown University, but he truly made a name for himself in the role of the head men's basketball coach at Oregon State University. In 2009, he led the Oregon State Beavers to a victory in the 2009 College Basketball Invitational.
After leaving Oregon State University in 2014, Robinson transitioned to executive roles within the NBA, serving as Vice President of Player and Organization Development for the Milwaukee Bucks and later the New York Knicks. His roles centered on player mentorship and development, demonstrating his commitment to nurturing talent and expertise within the sport. In addition to his work within the NBA, Robinson also spent time as a college basketball analyst for ESPN, providing a unique perspective as both a former player and coach.
However, Robinson's accomplishments extend beyond the realm of basketball. He holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and he has held executive roles in several firms, including Continental Bank, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and Loop Capital Markets. In 2010, Robinson authored the memoir "A Game of Character: A Family Journey from Chicago's Southside to the Ivy League and Beyond," which provides a deeper insight into his life and achievements. In 2025, Robinson began co-hosting the podcast "IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson" with his sister, the former first lady, where they interview guests from a variety of industries, including entertainment, sports, health, and business.
