Mark Cuban Biography

Mark Cuban is an entrepreneur and investor known for his work in technology, sports, entertainment, and healthcare. A graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Cuban began his business career by founding MicroSolutions and Broadcast.com. He co-founded Broadcast.com with Todd Wagner and later sold it to Yahoo for $5.7 billion. Cuban's early career included a notable incident in which he was fired from a software company for closing a $15,000 sale instead of performing routine tasks, illustrating his focus on business growth and self-reliance.

Cuban purchased the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, becoming one of the league's most outspoken owners. Under his ownership, the Mavericks won an NBA championship and became a competitive franchise. Cuban later sold a majority stake in the team. In the media industry, Cuban and Wagner established 2929 Entertainment, producing projects such as the documentary "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and the film "Good Night and Good Luck," both of which received Academy Award nominations.

Cuban served as a panelist on the ABC reality television series "Shark Tank" for 15 seasons, investing approximately $33 million in various startups. He is the author of "How to Win at the Sport of Business: If I Can Do It, You Can Do It."

Cuban founded Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs, a direct-to-consumer online pharmacy that prices medications based on manufacturing cost plus a fixed markup. The company supplies medicines to hospitals and offers a discount program for in-store pharmacy purchases.

Cuban has been recognized in the Time 100 Most Influential People list and has received honors such as the Texas Business Hall of Fame, the Horatio Alger Award, induction into the SXSW Hall of Fame, the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and GQ Man of the Year. He supports technology education through The Mark Cuban Foundation, which hosts free AI Bootcamps for low-income high school students. Cuban's career spans entrepreneurship, sports management, media production, and healthcare innovation.
