Courtney Platt Biography
Courtney Platt is a professional dancer, choreographer, and actor whose career spans competitive television, film, and live performance. Platt began her professional dance career as a New York Knicks City Dancer before gaining national recognition on the Fox competition series "So You Think You Can Dance," where she was a Top Four finalist and returning All-Star.
Following her appearance on "So You Think You Can Dance," Platt expanded her work across television, film, and stage. Her television credits include "Glee," "Shake It Up," "Ellen," "Big Time Rush," and "SNL." She has performed with artists such as Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Jennifer Lopez, and has appeared at the American Music Awards, the Latin Grammys, and the Kids' Choice Awards. As a choreographer, Platt has contributed to productions such as "Grease Live!" on Fox and "HAIR" at the Hollywood Bowl, and served as choreographer for the live show "The Simpsons Take the Bowl" and for episodes of "The Simpsons."
At age 23, while on tour as an All-Star with "So You Think You Can Dance," Platt began experiencing symptoms that led to a diagnosis of relapsing multiple sclerosis. Despite this diagnosis, she has continued her work in dance and remains active in the entertainment industry, while also engaging in multiple sclerosis advocacy.
Platt founded The Beat Dance Convention and The Beat Dance Walk, with proceeds supporting MS research through the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She serves as a spokesperson for MS in Harmony, an initiative by Bristol Myers Squibb focused on educating people with MS and their families about mind-body harmony through music therapy, and also represents the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Through public appearances, podcast interviews, and media advocacy, Platt is recognized for her work in chronic illness awareness and her ongoing contributions to the dance and entertainment industries.
