Andrew Rea is one part chef, one part filmmaker, and a generous dash of irreverent YouTube personality.
Self-taught both behind and in front of the camera, his cooking show, Binging with Babish, is enjoyed by millions of burgeoning chefs and foodies around the globe. His passion for teaching and experimenting in the kitchen is rivaled only by his love of film and television, both of which he endeavors to share from his Harlem, NY kitchen.
Rea began posting cooking videos in 2016, with his Friends themed episode in which he made the "Moistmaker" sandwich being the first to achieve wide circulation. He also created a Patreon account to earn an income, and after reaching a monthly $10,000 goal, quit his day job to work full-time on Binging with Babish. The channel's growth has been driven by fans promoting its videos on Reddit and other social media platforms.
Rea posts recipes for the dishes he makes on his website, and on October 3, 2017, he published a cookbook titled Eat What You Watch: A Cookbook for Movie Lovers, containing 40 recipes featured in film. He started the series Basics with Babish on October 12, 2017, teaching the preparation of basic recipes, stocking up on and using essential tools and equipment for cooking, as well as a variety cooking techniques.
Rea has continued growing his brand and platform by introducing a new branch of his YouTube channel, Being with Babish, in 2019.
