Anastasia Pagonis Biography
Anastasia Pagonis is a Paralympic swimmer on Team USA. She is also a social media influencer. Pagonis began to lose her vision at 11 years old, and by 14, was left with no usable vision. She was eventually diagnosed with a genetic retina disease and autoimmune retinopathies. She went through some very dark, hard months dealing with her diagnosis, but was determined not to allow it to stop her.
Pagonis began swimming at 12 and was on Team USA by 14. Her events are 100 Free, 400 Free, and 200 IM. This past year, she was invited to swim at the Paralympic World Series in Australia, where she took home 2 gold medals and is a Paralympic hopeful for Tokyo 2021. Pagonis utilizes social media as an outlet for her feelings and she also teaches others what it means to be blind. She uses her outgoing personality to create funny and entertaining content.
When she is not swimming or on social media, Pagonis takes online college classes. She also enjoys listening to music, audiobooks, and hanging out with her friends. She wants to show the world that having a disability does not have to stop you from achieving your dreams.
