Katy Sullivan Biography
Katy Sullivan is an award-winning and Tony-nominated actress, producer, writer, and bilateral above-knee amputee athlete. Originally from Alabama, she performed in theatre and received a BFA in acting from Webster University's Conservatory in St. Louis.
She made history as the first amputee actress to star on Broadway and starred in other productions across New York, Los Angeles, and London. Her most recent role was in the 2018 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, 'Cost of Living,' at the Manhattan Theatre Club, where she played the character Ani. Additionally, Sullivan has acted in various TV shows and films, including the critically acclaimed documentary 'Walk On.' She has appeared in popular TV series such as NBC's 'My Name is Earl,' ABC's 'Last Man Standing' and 'Station 19', FX's comedy 'Legit,' and CBS' 'NCIS: New Orleans.' Sullivan portrays Esther in 'Dexter: New Blood' on Showtime.
She co-founded SulliFlinn Productions with Becca Flinn, producing online comedy and short films. Currently, they are developing a comedy, LEGS, based on their life experiences. They were 2015 Fellows at the Producers Guild of America in their Power of Diversity program.
In addition to her acting achievements, Sullivan is a four-time US champion in the 100m. She was among the first bilateral above-the-knee amputees to compete in the Paralympics in ambulatory track when she ran in the London 2012 Paralympic Games, setting a new American record of 17.33s and finishing 6th in the World. She added 'Sports Analyst' to her list of accomplishments when she covered the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games for NBC/Universal.
