Scott Ellsworth Biography
Scott Ellsworth is an award-winning writer and historian. He is the author of five books, the last of which, "The Ground Breaking," was longlisted for both the National Book Award and the Carnegie Medal. Ellsworth has also written about American life and history for the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times.
Formerly a historian at the Smithsonian Institution, he has taught at the University of Michigan since 2007. His newest book, "Midnight on the Potomac," about the last year of the Civil War and the assassination of President Lincoln, will be published on July 15, 2025.
