Pinky Cole Biography
Aisha "Pinky" Cole Hayes is a Jamaican-American restaurateur, entrepreneur, author, and community activist recognized as the founder and CEO of Slutty Vegan, a plant-based burger chain known for its impact on vegan food culture. A former television producer and the daughter of Jamaican immigrants, Cole Hayes began her culinary career with Pinky's Jamaican and American Restaurant in New York City. After the restaurant closed due to a fire, she relocated to Atlanta and developed the concept for Slutty Vegan, initially selling plant-based burgers through Instagram from her apartment. The first Slutty Vegan brick-and-mortar location opened later that year, introducing a menu of plant-based meals with items such as Sloppy Toppy and One Night Stand, which contributed to the brand's national recognition.
Cole Hayes gained attention for raising $25 million in Series A funding, with the company valued at more than $100 million. Following a restructuring period, she reacquired Slutty Vegan and expanded it into a franchise system. In addition to Slutty Vegan, Cole Hayes owns Bar Vegan in Atlanta and founded the Pinky Cole Foundation, which focuses on supporting health and generational wealth in the Black community through grassroots initiatives. The foundation's efforts have included paying tuition for students at Clark Atlanta University and collaborating with Steve Harvey to assist Atlanta residents with utility bills.
Cole Hayes is the author of the cookbook "Eat Plants, B*tch," which features vegan recipes and guidance for plant-based cooking. She also published "I Hope You Fail" with HarperCollins Leadership, a book exploring how setbacks have influenced her achievements; the book received a nomination for an NAACP Award. As a public speaker, Cole Hayes has addressed audiences nationwide, including delivering the commencement address at Savannah State University, where she provided graduates with a gift package of in-kind entrepreneurial services.
Cole Hayes has been recognized by Restaurant Hospitality Power List, Forbes Next 1000, Entrepreneur Magazine Top 100 Powerful Women in Business List, LA Wire Influential Women, PETA's Most Beautiful Vegan Celebrities List, Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40 List, and TIME100 Next List. She has also been honored in the Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers report and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Black Chamber of Arizona Annual Pinnacle Pathways Gala. Her career reflects the growth of plant-based dining, franchise development, and community-focused entrepreneurship.
