Phoebe Leona Biography
Phoebe Leona is an international bestselling author, TEDx speaker, professional contemporary dancer, yoga teacher, and transformational guide whose work focuses on movement, somatic healing, and personal empowerment. Leona earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she studied technique, anatomy, kinesiology, and pedagogy. As a professional modern and contemporary dancer and choreographer in New York City, she also earned a Pilates certification from the Kane School of Core Integration and a 500-hour yoga certification.
Leona is the founder of The nOMad Collective and co-founder of TRIBE Military Yoga, organizations dedicated to leadership development and supporting those who serve. Her teaching emphasizes heart-centered leadership and fostering a sense of belonging and purpose through somatic practices and movement.
With more than 25 years of experience as a teacher and guide, Leona established nOMad to support individuals navigating life transitions. She developed the movement and somatic practice Mvt109, designed to help students embrace freedom in their bodies, transform old patterns, and reclaim their personal narratives. Mvt109 has been featured in her course on DailyOM. Leona’s embodiment practices address stress management, burnout prevention, and holistic well-being.
In her book, "Dear Radiant One: An Emotional Recovery Story and Transformational Guide to Embody the Dance of Life," Leona shares her healing journey and offers guidance on emotional recovery, shadow work, and self-discovery. The book encourages readers to engage with their emotions through writing, dance, movement, and spiritual exercises, contributing to the ongoing conversation around emotional wellness and somatic healing. The book has received recognition from the Titan Book Awards.
Leona’s TEDx talk, "Life Is A Divine Dance," integrates chanting, live music, and dance to explore themes of healing and transformation. She has appeared as a dancer, speaker, and teacher at events including the Times Square New Year's Eve Celebration, Cullum Hall at USMA West Point, and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. Leona also hosts the podcast "The Space in Between," where she discusses healing, transition, and embodied living.
