Lisa Dyson Biography
Lisa Dyson is an American scientist, physicist, and entrepreneur specializing in sustainable food technology and climate solutions. Dyson is the founder and CEO of Air Protein, a food tech company that produces protein ingredients using elements from the air through a land-free, carbon-negative process. This approach to alternative protein production draws inspiration from NASA's carbon transformation research and Dyson's experiences in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, which influenced her commitment to addressing climate change.
Dyson holds a doctorate in physics from MIT, where she conducted research in string theory. She was a Fulbright Scholar at University of London, earning a master's degree in physics with an emphasis in quantum fields and fundamental forces, and holds degrees in mathematics and physics from Brandeis University. Dyson has conducted research in bioengineering and physics at Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, Princeton University, University of California San Francisco, MIT, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories. Prior to founding her companies, she worked as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, advising Fortune 100 companies on business strategy, market expansion, post-merger integration, and operational efficiency.
Dyson is also the founder of Kiverdi, a biotechnology company advancing the circular economy by using microbes to convert carbon dioxide and carbon-rich waste into sustainable products for commercial use. She has raised over $100 million across the companies she co-founded, focusing on innovative supply chain solutions and sustainable business practices in biotechnology and food production.
Dyson has delivered TED talks on sustainable food systems and has appeared on PBS's "Nova." Her work has been recognized by Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, and Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst.
