Lara Spencer Biography
Lara Spencer, widely recognized for her work on ABC's "Good Morning America", has a rich history in broadcasting and television production. Prior to her current role as a contributor on "Good Morning America", Spencer served as co-anchor on the show and was also a correspondent for "Nightline" as well as ABC News. Her broadcasting career extends beyond these roles, having been the host of the syndicated entertainment newsmagazine "The Insider" from 2004 to 2011 and a regular contributor to CBS's "The Early Show". In addition, Spencer held the position of host for "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS for the 2004 and 2005 seasons and its spin-off, "Antiques Roadshow FYI", during 2005.
Spencer's involvement in the television industry is not confined to on-camera roles, as she has demonstrated her abilities as a creator and producer. She created and executive-produced the prime-time game show "It's Worth What?" which aired on NBC during the summer of 2011. Furthermore, her passion for interior design was showcased in the production of two television shows, "I Brake for Yard Sales" and "Flea Market Flip". The latter show, which she currently hosts, airs on HGTV and the Great American Country channel. Spencer's hosting abilities extend to the pageant industry as well, having co-hosted the 87th Miss America pageant in 2013 and Miss America 2015. In 2026, she launched the new competition series called "The Thrifting Show," which focuses on sustainable design and thrifting, where she serves as host and executive producer.
Spencer has also made her mark as an author, publishing her first book, "I Brake for Yard Sales," in April 2012, followed by her second book, "Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures" in 2014. Apart from her media engagements, she was honored to serve as the grand marshal at Homecoming 2014 and made an appearance on College GameDay in October 2019. Balancing her various roles, Spencer announced in April 2018 that she would be appearing on "Good Morning America" three days a week to focus on her television production work and her lifestyle brand.
