Kylian Mbappé is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for La Liga club Real Madrid and captains the France national team. Known for his pace, dribbling, and clinical finishing, Mbappé has established himself as a leading figure in international football.
Mbappé began his senior career at Monaco, where he was promoted to the first team after a brief period in the reserve squad. He made his debut in a Ligue 1 match against Caen, becoming the club's youngest-ever first-team player, surpassing a record previously held by Thierry Henry. He gained international recognition by helping Monaco reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, scoring in five of six knockout games, including three goals against Manchester City in the Round of 16.
At age 18, Mbappé signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent transfer, making him the second-most-expensive player and the most expensive teenage player in football history. Mbappé was also part of the French squad that reached the final of another World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick and became only the second player after Geoff Hurst to do so in a final. He is the first player in football history to have scored four career goals in World Cup finals. He won the Golden Boot and Silver Ball at the tournament and set a new record for the most goals scored in World Cup final matches. Mbappé also contributed to France's victory in the UEFA Nations League, receiving the top scorer award in the finals.
Real Madrid officially announced Mbappé's arrival, and he made his debut by scoring his first goal and winning his first title as a Madrid player in the European Super Cup final against Atalanta. He finished his debut La Liga campaign with 31 goals in 34 games, winning the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe for the first time in his career. With this achievement, Mbappé became only the third Real Madrid player to win the European Golden Shoe, after Hugo Sánchez and Cristiano Ronaldo. A hat-trick in an El Clásico match brought him to 39 goals for Madrid, breaking the record for most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in their debut season. He also became the second-youngest player to reach 50 Champions League goals, after Lionel Messi.
Mbappé has been named one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world and was listed by Forbes as one of the world's ten highest-paid athletes. He has been included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI six times and in the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season four times.
