Odell Beckham Jr., known by his initials OBJ, is recognized as one of the most dynamic wide receivers in National Football League (NFL) history. Beckham played college football for the LSU Tigers and was selected by the New York Giants in the first round of the NFL Draft. At LSU, Beckham started the BCS National Championship Game in his first year and won the Paul Hornung Award following his junior season.
Beckham's rookie season with the Giants set new standards for NFL rookie receivers. Despite missing the first four games due to injury, he broke several rookie receiving records, becoming the first player to record more than 75 receptions, 1,100 yards, and 10 touchdowns in a rookie season. He also set the rookie record for the highest average receiving yards per game. Beckham gained national attention during Week 12 of his first season with a one-handed touchdown catch in a Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys, a play widely regarded as one of the greatest catches in NFL history. He earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and was named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, as well as being selected twice as a second-team All-Pro. Off the field, Beckham made headlines by signing the largest endorsement contract in NFL history with Nike.
Beckham's career has been marked by both on-field achievements and resilience in overcoming injuries, including a left ankle fracture, a quadriceps injury, and two ACL tears. After playing for the Cleveland Browns, Beckham joined the Los Angeles Rams midseason and contributed to the team's Super Bowl victory, scoring the game's first touchdown before leaving with a knee injury. He spent the following season recovering before signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
Beyond football, Beckham has become a cultural figure, appearing in television productions such as "Catching Odell" and making his acting debut in "Code Black." He was featured on the cover of "Madden NFL 16," becoming the youngest player to do so. Beckham is also known for his philanthropy, including contributions to hurricane relief efforts. His career statistics include 575 receptions, 7,987 receiving yards, and 59 touchdowns.
Beckham later returned to the Giants, completing a full-circle journey with the franchise. In just 59 games during his first stint with the team, he ranked second in franchise history in receiving yards, and fourth in both receptions and touchdown catches. Beckham's career, defined by high-impact plays, perseverance through setbacks, and a significant influence on professional football, has made him a prominent figure in the sport and popular culture.
