Jason Booher is a survivor of the Carrollton bus crash, the deadliest drunk driving crash in U.S. history, which claimed 27 lives when he was 13 years old. Rather than allowing the tragedy to define him, Booher turned his pain into purpose, becoming a teacher, state championship basketball coach, principal, and superintendent of Mercer County Schools in Kentucky.
Over his 30-year career in education, Booher has led with heart, resilience, and faith, guiding teams to three Kentucky boys basketball state championships, including leading his small mountain team from eastern Kentucky to the 2010 KHSAA Sweet 16 state championship. Kentucky is the only state where all schools, regardless of size, compete for one title, a feat often described as Kentucky's version of "Hoosiers," with a tragic beginning. His book, "Fire and Glory: A Journey of Survival, Determination, and Triumph," shares his message of hope, leadership, and perseverance.
