Eva Grayzel Biography
Eva Grayzel is a master storyteller, motivational keynote speaker, and patient advocate known for her expertise in interactive storytelling and oral cancer awareness. With three decades of experience, Grayzel has developed and delivered business strategies through storytelling, drawing on her background as an actress in New York City and her work creating interactive stories for young audiences in after-school programs. Her "Story Theater" program established her as a motivational storyteller, providing assembly programs and educational keynotes at professional conferences focused on storytelling techniques.
Grayzel's career shifted after a diagnosis of late-stage oral cancer at age 33. Despite being a non-smoker and experiencing delays in diagnosis, she underwent extensive treatment, including partial tongue reconstruction and radiation therapy. Following her recovery, Grayzel used her stage skills to share her experience, first addressing 9,000 dentists at the National American Dental Association conference. She has since become a prominent voice for oral cancer awareness, speaking at dental, medical, and survivorship conferences worldwide about the patient perspective and the importance of early detection.
Grayzel founded Six-Step Screening, an oral cancer awareness campaign for dental professionals and the public. Her advocacy has been recognized with honors such as the Denobi Award for outstanding contribution to dentistry, the Award for Excellence in Public Service from the Oral Cancer Foundation, recognition as a Patient Champion by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and honorary membership in the American Academy of Oral Medicine.
Grayzel has performed her story as a one-woman show Off-Broadway, illustrating the impact of storytelling in overcoming adversity. She founded Talk4Hope, which includes children's books such as "M.C. Plays Hide & Seek" and "Mr. C The Globetrotter" to encourage dialogue about cancer, and "My Story Legacy," a guide for documenting personal stories. Grayzel also launched the Cancer Survivor Story Lab, a program designed to help survivors explore and share their cancer experiences for healing, advocacy, and legacy. Through her work, Grayzel continues to influence the fields of patient advocacy, cancer survivorship, and interactive storytelling.
