Dr. Lisa Loury-Lomas is a licensed clinical professional counselor and mental health expert with more than three decades of experience in psychology. Loury-Lomas holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology, a Master of Arts in clinical psychology with a focus on father absence and its effect on self-esteem, and a Doctor of Philosophy in general psychology with emphasis on applied social psychology, the impostor phenomenon, and self-esteem as they relate to development, motivation, and success. Her academic background informs her clinical practice and public engagement in the mental health field.
Loury-Lomas is the founder of Lisa Listens, a global mental health practice serving clients across the Midwest, the East Coast, and internationally. She specializes in mood disorders, trauma, grief, diversity, equity and inclusion, life adjustment disorders, and couples therapy. Her services include individual, couples, and family counseling, as well as corporate workshops, professional development seminars, and life coaching. Loury-Lomas utilizes approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, solution focused brief therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and compassion-focused therapy. She has also served as Eastern Area Director of The Links, Incorporated, where she was appointed the first Eastern Area Mental Health Chair, resulting in the integration of mental health into the organization's national programming.
