Dr. Lisa Loury Lomas Biography
Dr. Lisa Loury Lomas has worked in the field of psychology for over thirty years and is an expert in human relations and development.
Dr. Loury Lomas has received a B.S. in psychology, an M.A. in clinical psychology focusing on father absence and the effect on self-esteem, and a Ph.D. in general psychology with particular emphasis on applied social psychology, and the impact of the impostor phenomenon and self-esteem on development, motivation and success. She has served the judicial branch of government as well as academia and the private sector. In addition, Dr. Loury Lomas has specialized certifications in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief, telehealth medicine and as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
As a 21-year solo practitioner, her practice is global and involves conducting individual, couples, and family counseling; as well as developing and facilitating corporate workshops and seminars; and public speaking. Her public speaking engagements are vast and includes the World Diversity Leadership Summit in Vienna, Austria. Her work with diversity, inclusion and race inequity is illustrated not only in her professional career, but in her community service work with the N.A.A.C.P, Urban League, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)and The Crown Act.
Dr. Loury Lomas' diverse educational and professional publications and background prompted an invitation to serve on the Howard County Mental and Behavioral Health Task Force and the Board of Directors for Howard County National Alliance of the Mentally Ill. Her conflict resolution expertise has exposed her to various methods of gaining insight, problem solving and communicating.
