Diana Elizabeth Jordan Biography
Diana Elizabeth Jordan is an award-winning actress, filmmaker, acting coach, and disability inclusion advocate whose work focuses on advancing representation in the entertainment industry. Jordan, a Black disabled woman with cerebral palsy, was the first actor with a visible disability to earn an MFA in Acting from California State University, Long Beach. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which mildly affects her speech and gait, around age two, Jordan also holds certificates in occupational therapy from the University of Kansas and social emotional arts from UCLA.
Jordan has appeared in more than 60 film, television, and theater productions, including HBO Max's "The Pitt," Sony Studio's animated film "GOAT," and CBS's "S.W.A.T." Throughout her career, Jordan has taken on roles beyond disability-specific characters, advocating for authentic disability representation in Hollywood. She received the Best Actor Honor for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge and is featured in Liliana Moldovan's book "Eroii Imposibilului," which highlights multi-disciplined artists with disabilities globally. Her short film "Best Friend," which she co-starred in and co-produced, achieved recognition on the film festival circuit.
In addition to her on-screen work, Jordan has established a presence behind the camera and in entrepreneurship. She is the founder of The Rainbow Butterfly Café, a content creation and consulting company offering DEIB and cultural wellness workshops and accessibility consulting services. Jordan also launched Dreaming Big On A Swing Entertainment, a production company dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through film and live productions. She directed her first short film, "I CAN," for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, earning nominations for Best Director and Best Film. Jordan is a solo artist with several one-woman shows, a member of two improvisation ensembles, a TEDx speaker, acting coach, experiential learning designer, and expressive arts workshop facilitator.
Jordan serves on the National and Local Performers With Disability Committees for SAG-AFTRA, the Hollywood Fringe Access Committee, and is the Disabled Advocate for Women of Color Unite. She is also on the Advisory Board of National Disability Theater. Her work has been featured in Forbes, The Bold Beauty Project, and Disability Visibility Project, and she was named one of the disabled actors to watch by IMDb. Through her multifaceted career as a performer, director, educator, and advocate, Jordan continues to challenge industry norms and promote authentic, inclusive storytelling in film, television, and theater.
