Danielle Nierenberg Biography
Danielle Nierenberg is a world-renowned researcher, speaker, and advocate on all issues relating to our food system and agriculture. She co-founded Food Tank in 2013 with Bernard Pollack, a nonprofit focused on building a global community for safe, healthy food. Food Tank hosts influential summits, publishes daily articles, and partners with over 250 major organizations, including academic institutions, U.N. bodies, and global nonprofits.
Nierenberg has traveled to over 70 countries, conducting research and meeting with various stakeholders to address hunger and poverty while protecting the environment. She has written extensively on gender and population, the spread of factory farming in the developing world, and innovations in sustainable agriculture. Her insights have been widely cited in major media outlets like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and BBC.
She speaks at over 100 events annually, including SXSW, TED, and the World Food Prize/Borlaug Dialogues. Nierenberg has a significant social media presence with over 1.5 million followers and runs Food Tank’s weekly podcast “Food Talk with Dani Nierenberg.”
She holds an MS in Agriculture, Food, and Environment from Tufts University and spent two years volunteering for the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. She is the recipient of the 2020 Julia Child Award.
