Daniel Shin Un Kang is the author of "The Super Upside Factor" published by Wiley & Sons. He draws on his experience at Softbank and Y-Combinator to distill strategies used by venture capitalists to generate outsized returns – despite being wrong most of the time – applied to life decisions.
He is also the co-founder of a tech startup backed by Y-Combinator as well as a speaker, having spoken organizations including McGill University, Seoul National University, Medium, and New Enterprise Associates. His work has been featured in major media including the NASDAQ, The Information, The British Council, as well as Korean newspapers Maeil and Hankyung.
Prior to beginning his startup, Shin Un Kang was a venture capitalist at Softbank Vision Fund in both Silicon Valley and London. During his tenure, he served formally as a Board Observer to Auto1 Group in Berlin. Previously, he was a consultant at Oliver Wyman and a pilot sponsored by the Department of National Defence of Canada.
Shin Un Kang received his Bachelor’s of Commerce from McGill University and Master’s of Public Policy from the University of Oxford. In his down time, he enjoys writing pop music, drinking coffee, and spending time with his family.
