Damian Lillard Biography
Damian Lillard is a point guard known for his scoring ability and leadership in the National Basketball Association. After earning third-team All-American honors at Weber State, Lillard was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the sixth overall pick in the NBA Draft. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award unanimously, marking the start of a career defined by consistency and high-level performances. During his college career, Lillard led the Weber State Wildcats, earning two Big Sky Player of the Year awards and becoming the second-highest scorer in Weber State history.
A nine-time NBA All-Star and seven-time All-NBA Team selection, Lillard is the Trail Blazers' all-time leading scorer. He led the team to eight consecutive playoff appearances, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals. The NBA recognized Lillard as one of the 75 greatest players in league history. His scoring achievements include a career-high 71 points with 13 three-pointers in a win against the Houston Rockets, making him the eighth player in NBA history to score 70 or more in a single game, the first to do so in under 40 minutes, and the only player to score 70 over the age of 30. He ranked fifth on the NBA's all-time list of three-point field goals made, with 2,804.
During his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, Lillard was named All-Star Game MVP and won the NBA Cup. He also earned a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team. His tenure in Milwaukee included both achievements and challenges, including a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and an Achilles tendon injury. After being waived by the Bucks, Lillard returned to the Trail Blazers.
Outside of basketball, Lillard has established a career as a hip-hop artist under the name Dame D.O.L.L.A., an acronym for Different On Levels the Lord Allows. His first studio album, "The Letter O," charted on the Billboard 200, and his subsequent albums, "Confirmed" and "Big D.O.L.L.A.," appeared on the indie charts. Lillard has released five albums and collaborated with artists such as Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Durk. He became the first NBA player to perform on the All-Star Weekend stage, appearing with Lil Wayne. Lillard also launched the social media platform #4BarFriday, a freestyle rap challenge that attracted participation from basketball players and aspiring rappers. He is also the co-founder of Move Insoles, which he founded to provide athletes with better foot support.
Lillard serves as the general manager of the Weber State Wildcats men's basketball program in the Big Sky Conference, reflecting his ongoing connection to his alma mater. His career spans professional basketball, music, and sports management, making Lillard a prominent figure in the sports and entertainment industries.
