Carlos Carsolio is a renowned Mexican mountaineer, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur, celebrated for his extraordinary achievements in high-altitude climbing and his impactful contributions to leadership and team development.
Born on October 4, 1962, in Mexico City, Carsolio developed a passion for mountaineering early in life, inspired by his mother's adventurous spirit. He began his climbing career on Mexico's highest peaks, such as Pico de Orizaba and Popocatépetl, and soon expanded his pursuits internationally. At age 22, he achieved a significant milestone by ascending the challenging south face of Aconcagua, South America's highest mountain.
Carsolio's most notable accomplishment is becoming the fourth person—and the first non-European—to summit all 14 of the world's eight-thousanders (mountains over 8,000 meters), completing this feat in 1996 at the age of 33. Remarkably, he achieved these ascents without the use of supplemental oxygen, except for an emergency descent on Makalu in 1988. His climbs are distinguished by several solo ascents and the establishment of new routes, including the "Carsolio Route" on Broad Peak.
Beyond mountaineering, Carsolio has been a professional motivational speaker since 1985, delivering over 850 lectures across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. His presentations focus on themes such as team building, risk management, leadership, commitment, and strategic planning. Drawing from his experiences leading small, successful expeditions, he offers valuable insights into achieving excellence under pressure. In 1992, he founded Carsolio Empresarial, Mexico's first experiential training center, which has served over 70,000 participants from 500 major companies and institutions, developing innovative business simulators and high-impact experiential challenges tailored to diverse organizational needs.
Carsolio is also the author of the award-winning book "Encuentro con el Himalaya" ("Encountering the Himalayas"), which received the 1991 Editorial Value Award.
