Carla Zakhem-Hassan is chief marketing officer of JPMorgan Chase, where she leads a global marketing organization of 3,000 professionals. In this role, Zakhem-Hassan oversees advertising, media, performance marketing, sponsorships and talent, customer insights, and analytics for JPMorgan Chase and its corporate brands. The bank has a market capitalization of approximately $500 billion and offers products in dozens of countries worldwide.
Zakhem-Hassan has nearly three decades of experience in marketing, having held leadership positions across major consumer brands. During her 13-year tenure at PepsiCo, she held strategic marketing roles for Quaker and Gatorade in the United States and served as chief marketing officer for PepsiCo’s Middle East & Africa business based in Dubai. She later became senior vice president of brand management for PepsiCo’s Global Beverage Group, overseeing growth for the beverage portfolio across more than 50 markets, including brands such as Pepsi and Mountain Dew, and expanding Gatorade internationally. Before joining Citi, Zakhem-Hassan was executive vice president and global chief marketing officer of Toys "R" Us, where she managed brand vision, marketing and media strategy, creative, digital marketing, CRM, analytics, insights, and loyalty programs.
As the first global chief marketing officer of Citi, Zakhem-Hassan built a marketing team focused on brand campaigns promoting ESG (environmental, social and governance), diversity and inclusion, and other purpose-driven initiatives. She also led new product launches, including the Citi Custom Cash Card. Her consumer-goods approach to financial services marketing contributed to her recruitment by JPMorgan Chase, where she continues to drive business growth through creative, data-led, and purpose-driven marketing, as well as championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the financial services industry.
Zakhem-Hassan has received recognition in the marketing industry, including being named to Forbes' World's Most Influential CMOs, recognized as an ADCOLOR Legend, and included in Business Insider’s Most Innovative Chief Marketing Officers. Adweek honored her with its Brand Genius Award for her work in inclusive messaging and convergence. She is a member of the Henry Crown Fellowship within the Aspen Global Leadership Network at The Aspen Institute.
Zakhem-Hassan serves on the board of the Ad Council and the Association of National Advertisers.
