Brett Goldstein Biography
Brett Goldstein has emerged as a pivotal creative force in Hollywood, with notable contributions as a producer, writer, and actor. Known for his role as Roy Kent in the Peabody-winning Apple TV+ series, "Ted Lasso," Goldstein has played a significant role in the series' success, both on and off-screen. "Ted Lasso" set records in its first season as the most-nominated freshman comedy in Emmy history, a feat it repeated in its second season. Goldstein's portrayal of Roy Kent, a brash yet endearing character, has been widely recognized, earning him two Primetime Emmy Awards for 'Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy' in 2021 and 2022, making him the first actor in nearly 15 years to win this category consecutively. Goldstein was also part of the show’s writing team, contributing to their two wins at the WGA Awards.
Goldstein's creative prowess extends beyond "Ted Lasso." In 2023, he co-created the comedy series "Shrinking" alongside Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence, serving as an executive producer and writer for Apple TV+. This follows the success of his AMC limited anthology series, "Soulmates," which Goldstein co-created and executive produced with Will Bridges in 2020. Beyond his work in TV series, Goldstein has also made strides in the podcasting world. Since July 2018, he has been hosting the iHeartRadio award-winning podcast, "Films To Be Buried With," engaging special guests in in-depth discussions on films that have impacted them.
Goldstein’s acting career also includes a noteworthy role in the comedy film "Adult Life Skills," for which he won the BIFA for Best Supporting Actor. He expanded his portfolio into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cameo as Hercules in "Thor: Love and Thunder," and is expected to continue in this role in future Marvel productions. Additionally, Goldstein has showcased his talent in stand-up comedy, having written and performed four solo stand-up shows, including "Brett Goldstein: The Second Best Night of Your Life" during a US and Canada tour in 2023. Goldstein's debut stand-up special of the same name premieres on HBO in April.
