Reed Kessler Biography
Reed Kessler’s sensational breakthrough into the international showjumping ranks is yet to be matched. In 2012 at the age of 17, she catapulted to fame when she won the official selection trials for the United States Equestrian Team, won the U.S. National Open Jumper Championship and went on to represent the USA at that year’s London Olympic Games. She became the youngest showjumping competitor to ever have competed at the Olympics, and she subsequently was honored with the 2013 FEI Rising Star Award.
Throughout Reed’s childhood, horses were a part of her life. As Reed grew up and her dedication to riding became clear, the family began Kessler Show Stables, originally in New York before moving to Lexington, Kentucky, as well as a winter stable in Wellington, Florida.
Ever since she was a young child in her first leadline class, Reed has maintained a single-minded focus and competitive desire to win. Her early career was guided by trainers Katie and Henri Prudent, and she later trained with German legend Marcus Ehning before stepping out on her own in 2015.
In 2015, Kessler Show Stables purchased a 25- acre farm in Guttecoven, Netherlands where Reed was running her own competition stable until the spring of 2018.
In June 2018, Reed relocated back to the states and is now living in New York City where she will be attending Columbia University. While attending Columbia, Reed will continue to show but on a reduced schedule.
