Nelly Korda is a professional golfer on the LPGA Tour, recognized for her achievements in women's golf. Korda turned professional and won her first professional tournament at the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge. She began competing on the LPGA Tour and secured her first LPGA event victory at the "Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship." Demonstrating competitive ability from an early age, Korda made the cut at the U.S. Women's Open at age 14.
Korda is a four-time major winner, with victories at the Women's PGA Championship, multiple Chevron Championships, and the U.S. Women's Open. She has accumulated 23 professional titles, including 18 on the LPGA Tour, and holds an Olympic gold medal. Korda has spent more than 100 weeks as number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings and has finished as year-end number one on multiple occasions.
Her career has included overcoming significant challenges, including a season interrupted by a blood clot diagnosis that required surgery and a six-month recovery. Korda returned to competition at the U.S. Women's Open, finishing tied for eighth. She later became the third player to win five consecutive tournaments on the LPGA Tour, a streak that included a major win at the Chevron Championship. Korda is the first LPGA Tour athlete in nearly two decades to achieve five consecutive titles and only the third ever to do so.
Korda has represented the United States at the Solheim Cup, contributed to a team victory, and finished a season with seven individual LPGA titles, earning the LPGA Tour Player of the Year honor. She was recognized by Sportico as one of the highest-earning female athletes globally, with earnings from both prize money and endorsements. Off the course, Korda appeared in the sports comedy film "Happy Gilmore 2" and became the first LPGA golfer since Tiger Woods to attend the Met Gala. The American Junior Golf Association named a junior tournament after her, the Nelly Invitational, held at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida.
