Mark Turner Biography
Mark Turner is a seasoned professional with a rich background in technology and innovation. His career began in 1980 as a telecommunications engineer, and he was quickly recognized for his leadership abilities, becoming the first General Manager for DSC Communications in Puerto Rico.
Over the years, Turner held various executive positions at DSC, where he dedicated 18 years to mentoring engineers and building strong customer relationships. His journey in the tech industry took a significant turn when he joined Apple as a technology evangelist and executive. During his time at Apple, he was involved in significant projects such as the development of the first PowerBook laptops, Power Mac computers, QuickTime multimedia software, and the Mac OS X operating system.
In 2001, Turner moved to Value-Added Communications (VAC), eventually becoming the President and Chief Operating Officer in 2008. He continued in this role until the company's acquisition by GTL, after which he served as Senior Vice-President of Sales until his retirement in 2014.
Since leaving Apple in 2008, Turner has founded two companies and now advises technology startups in Denmark and Sweden, leveraging his deep understanding of innovation driven by a focus on human factors and company culture. He specializes in keynote talks, including topics such as "Inside Apple Innovation," "Creating a Culture of Innovation," and "Designing Captivating Ecosystems." These presentations draw on his experiences at Apple, offering valuable insights into the processes that contribute to sustained creative success.
Turner holds a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, San Jose, and an Executive MBA from the Scandinavian International Management Institute, focusing on innovation and leadership. In 2013, his dedication to motivating others was recognized when he was selected to become a Ziglar Legacy Certified Speaker and Trainer, a title officially bestowed in April 2014.
Mark is married to Cathy, his high school sweetheart, and they celebrated their 34th anniversary this year. They have two children, Grant and Katie, who reside in the Dallas metroplex area.
