Marc Gunther has dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to reporting. Throughout his career, Gunther has covered many beats, including local and state government, politics, television, the media business, corporate sustainability, foundations and nonprofits. Most notably, he has explored the captivating realms of business, politics, culture, and the science of psychedelics in recent times.

His authorship extends to several books, spanning topics such as baseball, TV sports, TV news, corporate social responsibility, and the vital role of carbon dioxide removal in addressing the climate crisis.
Not confined solely to the written word, Marc Gunther has also made his mark in the world of public speaking and moderating. He is best known as the creator and co-chair of Brainstorm Green, FORTUNE's influential annual conference on business and the environment, which successfully ran from 2008 through 2014.
Marc's professional journey has taken him from the Paterson (N.J.) News in 1974-1975 to the Hartford Courant from 1976 to 1983, followed by the Detroit News from 1983 to 1987, and the Detroit Free Press from 1987 to 1996. Subsequently, he joined the ranks at FORTUNE in 1996, where he stayed until 2009, after which he pursued freelance opportunities on a diverse array of topics. Presently, his interests include the realm of tobacco policy, particularly the contentious battle against vaping, as well as the fascinating subject of psychedelics.
Marc was born in Paris and grew up in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. He is a Yale graduate, a seasoned long-distance runner with 22 marathons under his belt, a fervent Washington Nationals fan, and a lover of the great outdoors. Beyond his professional commitments, he actively participates in his synagogue, the Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation, and volunteers regularly at Martha's Table.
