Luis A. Miranda, Jr. Biography
Luis A. Miranda Jr. is an advisor to Mansa Capital and a founding partner of The MirRam Group LLC, a government and public affairs consulting firm. He and The MirRam Group advise Mansa’s management committee on state and federal public policy, with a particular focus on the Latino market.
Miranda's memoir titled, “Relentless: My Story of the Latino Spirit that Is Transforming America” was released in 2024. In his book, Miranda shares his reflections about his upbringing in Puerto Rico, career as a political strategist and activist, and understanding the Latino voter.
Miranda is the founder and former president of the Hispanic Federation and has spent decades at the intersection of public policy, politics and community development. He served as special advisor for Hispanic affairs to former New York City Mayor Edward I. Koch and as director of the Mayor’s Office for Hispanic Affairs from 1984 to 1987.
A veteran political strategist, Miranda has served as lead consultant on numerous successful campaigns, including the U.S. Senate elections of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer, as well as Fernando Ferrer’s mayoral campaigns. He has also advised multiple candidates for the New York City Council and New York State Assembly.
His civic leadership includes serving as chair of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity and as chairman of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation from 1993 to 1995. He has served on the boards of Health Republic Insurance of New York, the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corp., the Audubon Partnership for Economic Development, Amber Charter School, Acción New York and the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation. He is also a member of the community advisory boards of JPMorgan Chase and WellCare Health Plans, and has served on advisory boards at Pace University, New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service and the CUNY Graduate Center.
