Kelvin Yu Biography
Kelvin Yu is an actor, writer and executive producer best known for his work in television and film. He is an Emmy-winning writer on the animated series “Bob’s Burgers” on Fox and serves as an executive producer on the Apple TV+ animated series “Central Park.” His work spans comedy, animation and live-action storytelling across major networks and streaming platforms.
Yu is the creator, executive producer and writer of the Disney+ series “American Born Chinese,” adapted from the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang. The series marked a significant milestone in Asian American representation on television and further established Yu as a creative force behind culturally resonant, character-driven storytelling.
In addition to his writing and producing work, Yu has built a substantial acting career. He is widely known for his role as Brian, Aziz Ansari’s best friend, on the Netflix series “Master of None.” His film and television credits also include “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” “Milk,” “Star Trek,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” and the Apple TV+ series “The Afterparty,” where he appeared opposite Ike Barinholtz, Dave Franco and Sam Richardson.
A native of Los Angeles, Yu is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied film, theatre and television. He is an outspoken advocate for diversity and empowerment within the Asian American community and continues to contribute to the industry both on and off screen.
