Ryan Bergara Biography
Ryan Bergara is a co-founder of Watcher Entertainment. Prior to founding Watcher, Bergara was a senior video producer at BuzzFeed. He is known for being the creator and host of "BuzzFeed Unsolved." He has also done work as a director, cinematographer, writer and editor. He created his own production company called Jamexi Productions.
He attended Chapman University where he studied narrative television. From the young age, he was interested in filmmaking and honed his skills in cinematography, directing, and editing. He then formed his own production company, Jamexi Productions.
As a student, Bergara had an internships with Sony Pictures and Viacom. He started his career as a videographer and editor at Whalerock Industries. In 2014, he joined Take One Productions as a camera operator, editor, and producer. After working at Take One Productions for six months, he joined BuzzFeed in August 2014 as a video intern. He was then a video fellow before reaching producer status.
"BuzzFeed Unsolved" follows Bergara and co-host Shane Madej as they discuss unsolved crimes, haunted places, alleged demonic possessions and historical occurrences. While the topics of discussion are often morbid, Bergara and Madej are known for their sense of humor. The show is filmed primarily in Los Angeles with some episodes having parts filmed across the U.S, and even some in other countries.
The show has also become a ratings hit for BuzzFeed, regularly featured as one of the network's most-watched shows. Prior to the premiere of the eighth season, BuzzFeed renewed the show for a ninth season, which aired in late 2018. A tenth season premiered in March 2019.
The show's success has also spawned a spin-off dedicated to sports, which airs on Facebook Watch. Bergara hosts the series with Zack Evans.
