Jonathan Goldfinger Biography
Dr. Jonathan Goldfinger is a pediatrician and healthcare change agent with years of experience transforming pediatric primary care for underserved families. He is best known for his innovation and vision, including leading integrated care and novel health and wellness technologies to national prominence and scale.
Currently, Dr. Goldfinger is a member of the Surgeon General’s Trauma-Informed Primary Care Implementation Advisory Committee in California. He advises California's Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris and the CA Department of Healthcare Services on the roll out of trauma-informed primary care across the state.
Dr. Goldfinger influences large, complex systems with a can-do, relationship-centered approach. Combining cultural humility and research with clinical innovation, big data, technology, and strategic partnerships, his work has jumpstarted successful collaborations across many entrenched silos. Most recently, Jon served as ZERO TO THREE’s Chief Medical Officer and before that National Director of HealthySteps (HS). The brand new HS National Office team Jon led influenced 68 clinical practices across the U.S. to participate in a national evaluation; evolved the HS model with latest best practices and tiered services; developed effective branding and marketing; and engaged diverse payers (Medicaid and commercial) in value-based arrangements. In under 2 years, HS under Dr. Goldfinger grew from 74 practices in 13 states to over 120 practices in 20 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico, and secured over $50 million in public and private funding.
Jon’s other transformative healthcare innovations include Los Angeles’ only Breastfeeding Medicine Center where women and children receive integrated lactation support and primary care regardless of income, and the world’s most comprehensive, free, evidence-based breastfeeding app, latchME. Like Nadine, Dr. Goldfinger sits on the American Academy of Pediatrics National Advisory Board for Screening in Practices. He also advises a number of national and local initiatives and startups on team-based, trauma-informed, family-centered, community-driven, value-based, and technology-empowered care.
Dr. Goldfinger received his Medical Doctorate and Master of Public Health from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He was inducted into the Delta Omega public health honors society for developing population-level injury monitoring systems in Honduras, where an injury is the leading cause of death and disability. He has also designed models for monitoring the health of first-responders to man-made and natural disasters for the CDC and completed fellowships in healthcare administration and policy, and leadership in child development.
