Jonathan Goldfinger Biography
Dr. Jonathan Goldfinger, MD, MPH, FAAP, is a pediatrician and healthcare leader focused on transforming pediatric primary care for underserved families. Goldfinger completed a BA at Columbia University, earned MD and MPH degrees at Mount Sinai Medical School, and completed residency and fellowships at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He was inducted into the Delta Omega public health honors society for developing population-level injury monitoring systems in Honduras. Goldfinger has designed models for monitoring the health of first responders to disasters for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and completed fellowships in healthcare administration, policy, and leadership in child development.
Goldfinger has influenced large, complex healthcare systems by integrating research, clinical innovation, big data, technology, and strategic partnerships. He served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Innovation at the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco, which led national efforts to address Adverse Childhood Experiences, including abuse, parental mental illness, and discrimination. As National Director of HealthySteps, Goldfinger led a team that expanded the program from 74 practices in 13 states to more than 120 practices in 20 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico, securing over $50 million in public and private funding and advancing national evaluation and best practices.
Goldfinger's healthcare innovations include Los Angeles' only Breastfeeding Medicine Center, providing integrated lactation support and primary care, and the development of the breastfeeding app "latchME." His published research on adverse childhood experiences and pediatric asthma has appeared in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. Goldfinger has also served as Chief Medical Officer at ZERO TO THREE.
Goldfinger was selected as President and CEO of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, a national organization in suicide prevention and mental health care. He is CEO of Just Whole Care, specializing in trauma-informed healthcare systems, and serves on the California Surgeon General's Trauma-Informed Primary Care Implementation Advisory Committee, advising on models and best practices for trauma-informed care in California.
Goldfinger advises the California Office of the Surgeon General on trauma-informed primary care, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and First 5 Los Angeles on children's development and behavioral services, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on maternal-infant healthcare quality improvement. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics National Advisory Board for Screening in Practices and advises national and local initiatives on team-based, trauma-informed, family-centered, community-driven, value-based, and technology-enabled care. Goldfinger is recognized for his expertise in health equity, whole-person care, and systems-level healthcare innovation.
