Iman Abuzeid Biography
Iman Abuzeid, M.D., is a Sudanese-American physician and entrepreneur recognized as the co-founder and CEO of Incredible Health. Incredible Health operates as the largest AI-native healthcare career marketplace, utilizing AI voice agents to serve more than 1 million U.S. healthcare workers and 1,500 healthcare employers. The platform is known for transforming the healthcare hiring process, enabling hospitals to reduce hiring times for permanent nurses from 86 days to under 20. Its technology-driven approach addresses workforce shortages and streamlines recruitment for both nurses and health systems.
Abuzeid's multidisciplinary background includes undergraduate and medical degrees from University College London. After relocating to the United States, she worked in healthcare consulting at Booz & Co. in New York City, focusing on hospital operations and strategy. She later earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the Wharton Graduate and Kaiser Fellowship. Abuzeid also worked at McKinsey & Company and led product management at AliveCor, a mobile health company, where she expanded the user base, managed marketing initiatives, and secured clinical trial agreements with major academic medical centers.
Identifying a disconnect between understaffed medical centers and nurses seeking employment, Abuzeid co-founded Incredible Health with Rome Portlock. The platform reverses the traditional hiring model, allowing hospitals to pitch themselves to nurses who join at no cost. One in four U.S. nurses and hundreds of leading hospitals, including HCA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Stanford Health Care, and Baylor Scott & White, use Incredible Health. Abuzeid holds three patents and has contributed to advancements in healthcare technology, workforce innovation, and AI-driven recruitment.
Abuzeid is among the few CEOs leading a unicorn startup, with Incredible Health valued at $1.65 billion and raising $100 million from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz. She is one of a small number of Black female founders to lead a company valued at over $1 billion. Abuzeid has been featured in Inc. Magazine's Female Founders 200 list and Forbes' America's Richest Self-Made Women list, and was named to the TIME100 Next list. She is recognized for her expertise in healthcare workforce innovation, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, offering the perspective of a physician who transitioned to building a billion-dollar technology company addressing critical public health challenges.
